The phoenix cried fat tears of pearl. [For Lila; dated for 04/22/17]
Lily loves James dearly, she does. And Sirius, as well, of course. And all of their friends hold a special place in her heart as well. But sometimes, she just needs a moment away. Most of her friends here are decidedly male, and there's only so much of boys being boys that Lily can handle on a daily basis.
So she shoots off a text to Lila to meet her at The Beanstalk for a drink. Despite it's reputation, Lily has come to be fond of the bar. It's built by and aimed for those with magical abilities and those of the supernatural persuasion, which is a nice sort of island in the midst of so much Muggle technology and advancements. Not to mention, they make the same magical drinks of Lily's home, which she misses more than she can say.
So she Apparates to just outside of the bar, giving the password and making her way inside, dressed casually in a silver, floral sundress and dark grey boots, her money safe in a purse she's charmed so she doesn't have to worry about thieves.
She makes her way to the bar and orders a Knotgrass Mead for herself while she waits for her friend to appear.

"Godric's Hollow, where James and I were living, was rumored to be a place of great power, too," she adds. "But I can't think of anything definite. So, maybe, is the best answer."
She knows environment plays a significant role, especially with magic. Places that have meaning to people always to seem to aid in the power of their spells.

"As long as your house wasn't trying to eat you, or bring your things to life to come at you with tiny handmade swords," she says, smirking over the lid of her cup, thinking back to the Hatchimal attack.
"Speaking of magic, I think I might be cursed, and I have a feeling I know who, not what, is responsible," Lila adds, thinking of Sirius and James. "Does your magic have a spell to make people ill?"
no subject
"Let me guess," she says, taking a sip of her drink, eyes alight with more merriment now. "My husband and his best friend?"
"We have a couple of different spells," she says. "What are you feeling? That will help me narrow it down."

"It's a nauseous feeling, mostly in the morning, sometimes at night. And some foods have been completely repulsive. I'm running ideas out of retaliation, by the way, so if you've got a good one up your sleeve I'd like to hear it," she adds, tipping her glass toward Lily before taking another long drink.
She leaves out the part where sometimes the nauseous feeling lead to vomiting for Lily's sake. No one needs to hear about that.

She listens to Lila describe the symptoms of her illness, eyebrow arching as she continues with her descriptions. Her first thought, though Lila will likely think it still a prank, is that Lila is not ill due to practical jokes.
"What about soreness?" She asks, watching her friend. "Vomiting? Have you been on the rag, recently?"
no subject
"What's the rag? The vomiting, yeah." She laughs again. "You really wanna talk about that?"
no subject
"Your monthly cycle," she clarifies. "And yes, I want to talk about both. Because, if I'm being honest, and I'm almost drunk now, so I am, I really do think you might be pregnant."
"Speaking," she says, with a hand gesture that moves just on this side of tipsy, "from experience, of course."
no subject
"Pregnant? There's no way," she says, waving a dismissive hand at Lily. "What a nightmare."
no subject
"You use protection, right?" She asks. "Spells? Charms? Herbs? Potions? Because, I have to say, you're showing all of the classic symptoms."
no subject
"...You're really being serious?" she asks, her humor and the buzz she'd been working on draining away to something else, a pit beginning to form in her stomach the way it did when she smelled whatever the fuck the apartment below her was cooking for breakfast this morning. "I think sometimes Kell does a spell, but..."
She isn't sure. She doesn't pay attention. She can't get pregnant, she wouldn't know the first thing to do with a baby.

Lily does her best to keep her face from growing overly concerned, but as she watches Lila, she can't help but become even more so.
"Sometimes?" She repeats, softly. "So there's a very good chance you could be pregnant. You should take a test."
no subject
"I don't feel pregnant, Lily," she insists, feeling dizzy from more than the drink. "I don't feel like there's...anything in me." She quiets a moment, her mouth drawn in a firm line. "What is the test?"
Surely she'll pass it, and it will say she's fine.
